Woodsman Target Model - #12836-S .22LRMade 1948
Here's a Second Series Target Model, made in 1948, and it has a lot of character. Usually when a gun is described as having character you need to open your eyes and watch out. Not so with this one. It has features of the very first post-war Woodsman pistols: the rounded trigger; the bakelite "Coltwood" grips without thumb rest; and the marvelous build quality. I think this is a very attractive and desireable example. It remains in very good original condition with perfect mechanicals. It is marvelously smooth in operation. This is what a .22 pistol should be. Nothing made today can touch this pistol. You can see wear in the finish, but I can tell you without hesitation that these photographs, taken under bright lights, show the pistol in the worst possible representation. It presents much better in hand. I like this pistol a lot. Basically it has high edge wear, and the barrel has thin finish on both sides. It has a perfect bore. Finish on the front grip strap is thin. This is a nice Woodsman that shows some carry but little use and no abuse. It has another 64 years of use just waiting for you.
