Purdey Double Rifle in .303 British

Thanks to my friend, David Trevallion for helping de-cypher the specs of this rifle. You can see there
is an error in Purdey's letter. The letter says, ".303 Hammerless Back Action Ejector" when clearly this is
a bar action rifle with Beesley locks and extractors. But the error can be forgiven. They didn't have David
to explain the cypher.
One thing I wanted to know was the meaning of a measurement such as what we see with the bend, "2 1/8 1/16 bare". David said that's the way the stockers would read a rule. Instead of 2 3/16" they read it as 2 1/8" and another 1/16". The term "bare" means it just barely makes that measurement. So that entry tells us the rifle has just exactly 2 3/16" drop at the heel. Ok, the specs say it should balance 4 1/4" ahead of the face of the breech. Here we are in the Fall of 2011, which is 114 years after this wonderful rifle came into the world. I'm the type of guy who has to know. Please excuse the very busy and cluttered background. I rigged up a sling to suspend the Purdey at its point of balance, and you can see the result in these photos:
