~ SOLD! ~
These measurements are approximate, as I have no proper measuring tools for the task.
WEIGHT: 9 lbs. 12 oz. (9.73 lbs. on digital electronic scales)
CHAMBERS: 2 7/8"
MARKINGS: "Charles Daly" on each sidelock; crown over two crossed pistols (Linder trademark) on bottom of each barrel ahead of the flats; "Charles Daly Fine Damascus Barrels" on rib.
There are no proof marks, which indicates it was made prior to the German proofing requirements of 1893.
The barrels are excellent. They have no dents, bulges, or other damage. There are scattered very light pits. The barrels are clean and shiny their full length, with original exterior finish showing excellent tight damascus pattern. The barrels ring like chimes. The rib is a smooth concave game rib.
There is one small splinter chip out of the forend. Attached is a photo. Any good gunsmith can fix this so it is as good as new. I have had this type of repair done on other guns.
The action retains a lot of original case color but is somewhat shiny on the bottom from carry. The sidelocks retain virtually all the original colors. I believe all finishes on the gun are original. The action is tight and on face.
The locks are rebounding hammer sidelocks. The action has heavily carved percussion style fences. Trigger pulls are crisp and light. The faces of the triggers are finely checkered.
The stock is quarter sawn with fancy feather crotch figure uniform on both sides. It has its original horn buttplate, checkered.
I am not a shotgun man, so my description may be lacking is some regards. I'll be glad to answer any questions and send additional photos if you are interested.
